How to Make a Difference During National Recovery Month

Attachment Large Size Large Wp Post Image

National Recovery Month is a time to look at what you can do to help others on the path of wellness and recovery. This is a time to step forward, if you feel you can, to tell others what you’ve accomplished in your recovery, allowing them to see what they can do, too.

Because addiction and mental health disorders are often very isolating conditions, many people don’t see how they can heal and overcome their fears. At Springfield Wellness Center, we want to encourage you to find the help you need. If you need help maintaining your recovery, contact us today at 844.334.4727.

Simple Things You Can Do During National Recovery Month

It is a good idea to find your way to make a difference during National Recovery Month. You do not have to do anything if you don’t feel you can. You can, on the other hand, step forward and create significant change in your life and future by helping others. Here are a few examples of ways you can help.

Visit a Treatment Center

One of the most important ways to help others struggling with drugs and addiction is simply to visit a local treatment center and to ask to speak to those who need it. You may have been at your worst time when you were in drug and alcohol detox. You didn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. You were scared. Imagine what it would be like to have someone who has been through it all by your side? Even a simple visit can make a significant difference in someone’s life.

Tell Your Story

There are many ways to play a role in National Recovery Month. Find one that is right for you to tell your story. For example, you can share your story on your social media accounts. You can turn to a local newspaper or news station and ask them to help you communicate the message. Local organizations are always looking for people who can share information and support for their members.

Talk to Your Friends

Chances are good you know a few people who may not be living the sober lifestyle. You know the value addiction recovery could bring to them, but you may not want to invade their personal life. Write a letter to them. Send them a text message. Tell them your story, but don’t make it seem like you know what they are facing. Instead, just give them an opportunity to open up to you.
