Discover the beauty of life once again

NAD in the News (Part 1)

Almost every day, exciting new developments in NAD (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) are making the news. Lately, there have been so many that I will have to summarize and share some details in future emails. For now, let me say that new research shows NAD supplementation benefits those with neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, kidney disease, and migraines.

This new research isn’t surprising to those familiar with the amazing NAD molecule. NAD is involved in so many essential functions—from cellular energy production to fighting inflammation to keeping our DNA repaired. It’s no wonder that NAD deficiency can lead to many health problems. And by the same token, NAD supplementation can also benefit many conditions.

NAD News

In recent NAD research published in Cell Metabolism, the authors identify 10 hallmarks of aging brains—from inflammation to mitochondrial dysfunction to impaired DNA repair (and more)—and explain how NAD supplementation addresses all of them. They write: “[E]merging findings reveal key roles for NAD+ …in counteracting processes in neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.” They propose that advances in understanding NAD+ will lead to novel approaches for facilitating healthy brain aging and treating neurological disorders. The authors include the image below of the 10 hallmarks of an aging brain and how NAD augmentation can help.

NAD treatment infographicThis is our experience, too. We have seen our patients with Parkinson’s disease benefit from both intravenous and intranasal NAD treatments. When I say “benefit,” I mean that their tremors are reduced, their cognitive function (memory, attention span, and problem-solving ability) improves, and they can resume many of the activities of daily living that once were beyond their abilities–walking, eating with a fork, and even riding a bike. We have published several case reports, which you can see on our NAD Research website.

How Can NAD Benefit Alzheimer’s Patients?

We also see improvements in Alzheimer’s patients. For the last few years, we’ve treated one of my good friends, Billy, whose Alzheimer’s symptoms improved greatly so long as he could maintain his monthly NAD booster regimen. They worsened during Covid-19, when he missed four months of treatment, but improved again when he could resume his treatment protocol.

Improved symptoms are not the usual Alzheimer’s trajectory. Billy’s results were published in the Journal of Gerontology and Geriatric Research, and you can also find them on our NAD Research website here. Click on the link below for a video of Billy’s testimonial. He has certainly kept his quick wit and sense of humor!

What can you do with all of this wonderful information? If you know someone suffering from (or wanting to prevent) any of these conditions—Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, or “just” an aging brain—share this post with them and encourage them to make an appointment for evaluation and treatment.

Those of us who work with NAD know it performs so many essential bodily roles that it’s no wonder it positively affects many health conditions. And no one knows more about NAD’s clinical effectiveness than the Springfield Wellness Center staff.

We really are the NAD specialists. We were the first to bring intravenous NAD to the United States—originally for addiction detox, and now for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, CTE, TBI, anti-aging, long Covid, chemo brain, chronic fatigue, migraines, and so much more. Our NAD Research sister organization advances scientific understanding of how NAD performs its various cellular miracles, and our BR+MD Consultants faculty train other healthcare providers in our standard-setting NAD protocols.
